The air element in yoga is known as Vayu or prana which is also is our life force.That is why, air element is the most powerful to clean toxins from our body. Air is essentially anything that is a gas and is responsible for all movement including expansion, contraction and suppression.
This element is about lightness, new beginnings, a fresh perspective or ‘A breath of fresh air.’ Physically, Air is the element of the anahata chakra, the heart chakra and the heart is about love, where everything unites, it is your spiritual centre,
When this element is balanced in our bodies our breathing is, steady and deep. The breath is calming and stills the mind.
The Vayu panchabhootha flow is a Vinyasa practice that focuses mainly on relieving the body of emotional stress and open up our hearts to receive and give more love from and to the universe. This practice also focuses on different pranayama techniques which inturn regularises the flow of prana through our bodies.
An awareness of the air element is one of most fundamental principles in the practice of Yoga poses and pranayama techniques.
